If you own a Powersports vehicle like a dirt bike, ATV or UTV and you frequently use it, almost on a daily basis, it will make your ownership experience easier and more enjoyable if you have an extended service coverage. For most owners, the benefits far outweigh their Powersports Extended Service cost. But before you purchase an extended service contract for your Powersports vehicle, it might help with the decision-making process if you know a bit about the factors that affect its cost.

Powersports Extended Service Cost

Typically, extended service contracts cost anywhere from $100 to $300 per month or about $1,600 to $3,000 a year depending on the terms, inclusions, and coverage. A Powersports extended service contract works pretty much the same way as an extended service plan for a regular vehicle in that the factors that affect its total cost are typically the same.

To give you a refresher, here are the factors that generally affect how much your extended service contract will cost you:

Vehicle type, make and model

The No. 1 factor that will affect your total Powersports Extended Service cost is the vehicle itself, specifically, its brand, model, manufacturing date and whether or not you purchased it brand new or used. There are certain vehicle brands and models that are considered to be “high risk,” so to speak, in terms of breakdowns and repairs, so it’s best to check if your specific vehicle is one of them before purchasing your extended service plan.

Mileage

If you’re purchasing the extended service contract together with your brand-new vehicle, then mileage won’t really matter. But if you’re purchasing it separately, and at a later time when you’ve already put a considerable mileage on your vehicle, then this will need to be factored-in when computing for your total extended service cost.

Basically, the more mileage there is in the vehicle, the higher the cost because providers and/or dealerships will likewise see this as a higher risk for more repairs.

Deductible

In general, extended service contracts require owners to pay for a portion of the repairs. This is known as your deductible. So how it works in terms of Powersports Extended Service cost is that the lower your deductible, the higher the premium you will have to pay.

Note: Torque Group offers extended service contracts with $0 deductible on new and $25 deductible on used vehicles.

Coverage

Last but not the least is coverage. Basically, the more comprehensive the coverage, the higher the premium. You can choose to have your ATV’s moving parts covered, which means the engine, transmission, and driveshaft. If you wish to have all components covered, which may include the radiator, sensors, cooling hoses, etc., then you will have to pay a higher premium.
