Dealerships usually offer add-ons like a Powersports Extended Service Contract, Tire & Wheel Program, and Battery Replacement Program, among several others, to make vehicle ownership easier, more fun, and more enjoyable. These contracts and programs offer specific services that cover specific parts, which is why a typical Powersports vehicle owner may purchase several of these programs at a time.
Powersports Extended Service Contract
An extended service contract is coverage for factory installed parts where when one of these break down, your extended service contract will pay for the necessary repairs or if needed, parts replacement. Usually, this type of service contract is purchased to have coverage when your manufacturer’s warranty expires.
Here are a few things to know about an extended service contract for your Powersports vehicle:
1. Coverage is for factory installed parts
What this means is that the parts covered are those that originally came with the vehicle. Parts that have been replaced to alter or modify the vehicle are not covered.
2. Breakdowns due to abuse, misuse, or neglect are not covered
If a mechanical breakdown occurs because of improper use of the vehicle, the repair cost won’t be shouldered by the extended service contract. Any breakdown that occurs because of the owner’s neglect won’t be covered.
3. Damage caused by an accident or natural disaster aren’t included in the coverage
Likewise, any damage caused by an accident or natural disaster is not part of the coverage.
4. Vehicle owners are required to have repairs done at an accredited shop
In general, the service contract dictates exactly where you can have repairs done. If there isn’t a nearby accredited shop where the breakdown occurred, you may need to have the car towed to the nearest accredited repair shop.
Torque Group understands that this stipulation could be exhausting and frustrating for a lot of vehicle owners, which is why their Powersports Extended Service Contract allows owners to have repairs done at any repair shop in the United States provided there is a licensed mechanic to do the repairs and the parts needed are already available.
5. Coverage is available for new and used vehicles
If you own a used Powersports vehicle, one thing you should check at the dealership is whether your vehicle is eligible for the extended service contract. Understand that not all F&I solutions provider cover used vehicles, so make sure to check this out before buying your used ATV or motorcycle.
Torque Group’s Comprehensive Powersports Extended Service Contract covers Certified Pre-Owned vehicles, which gives you peace of mind knowing future repairs are covered. Usually, there is a $25 deductible on used vehicles and $0 deductible on new vehicles.
