ATVs (or All-Terrain Vehicles) are exciting purchases to make and come with a whole new set of possibilities, whether you plan to ride on the road, gravel, or even in the mud.
However, it’s important to note that not all tires are made for the same purposes and conditions. Below, Torque Group goes over some ATV essential tire knowledge in hopes of educating our customers and readership for them to make the right choice at the moment, a choice that will help customers enjoy their purchase on a deeper level.
It’s also important to consider which type of tire you need for safety purposes. Some tires are better at grabbing the road while others are made for soft or hard turf.
All Terrain
All terrain tires are easily the most basic and most popular type of ATV tire and are not at all made for one type of terrain at the expense of another. It’s more than likely that your ATV will come stock with all-terrain tires at the time of purchase. It’s always good to have an extra set of all-terrain tires in the garage — just in case.
Mud
Another type of ATV tire are mud tires, which are more suited for muddy road conditions. Mud tires have oversized knobs that allow your ATV to grasp large chunks of terrain at a deeper level when you’re hitting the throttle. Mud tires are great for snowy and slushy conditions, too, giving them added value. The drawback when it comes to mud tires is that, if you end up driving on hard terrain, your tires will wear and become damaged at a fast rate.
Sand
Sand tires (also referred to as paddle tires) are another type of ATV tire you can choose from that will help give you the very best possible traction when you are on loose sand. These special tires are specifically designed to push sand backward, which will end up giving your ATV more traction. Again, if you take sand tires out on any harder terrain than sand, you’re not going to like the results.
